Any major gameplay difference with Gold Strike vs El Dorado ? Target
resetting differences etc...

Is Gold Strike too easy of an AAB ? I've heard this said... opinions
??? I don't mind earning balls during a game of course, but I don't
want to earn 10 every game...

Thanks ! Joe

El Dorado - they reset every ball. Hit 'em all, then go for moving
replay lights until ball exits.

Gold strike - they stay down until you hit the last one - then go for
moving extra ball lights until ball exits. Next ball -they reset.

Sorry for breaking in here but El Dorado does not reset reset at the
end of each ball. It does not reset until you knock them all down.

Similar game play only GS had two targets lit in the 10 bank at all
times for 5000 points and extra ball when lit. When you get all the
targets down on GS they reset and you can get as many extra balls as
lit targets (2 on the 10 bank and one on the 5 bank) you hit until that
ball ends. Then you have to get them all down again to lite the extra
ball opportunities.

With ED, once you get them all down they reset for special only for the
lit one in the 10 bank. The special remains lit for the duration of
the game.

Both are excellent ployers. If I had to choose which one was the
easiest (to get specials or to get extra balls) I would have to say GS
is easier. But rarely to the point that you can rack up 10 balls.

You are correct. It is El Dorado City of Gold and the other cloned
playfield Gottlieb's that reset after each ball. Me bad!

I've yet to play a game where the replay version is better than the add
a ball, so I have to go with Gold Strike. love the roving lite for the
Wow.

Not a huge fan of this game though, think there are much better
wedgeheads out there like Abra Cadabra, Pop A Card, Dimension etc.

I know that Vic Camp will have a field day with this but I have to
respectfully disagree with Levi. A case where the replay game is
considered better than the add-a-ball would be King of Diamonds being a
better player than Diamond Jack. Not that DJ is a bad player, but it
is commonly thought that KOD is better.

Again...just my .02

School me in the rules- is there a big difference?

Honestly I was refering more to the WOW concept, where you can really
whale on it and get lots of EBs. I think this started around Astro or
Dimension.

Also, I'll go with Abra Cadabra over Team One anyday, since I hate
soccer and abra has killer art.

I think it's more what you grew up with. I'm pavlovian with making replays
and going for high scores, extra balls don't do it for me. On the original
question; I prefer ED because of the single lighted special target,
precision target shooting while taking into account the rollover which moves
the target.. that's what it's about.

Dave,
Now your talking like a true player . Your knowledge of playability
when it comes to DJ vs KoD is heart warming and i am amazed that you
have come full circle finally telling the facts about replay games.
Nice going !

Don't forget to set your tilt bobs way down low when i come over to
give your collection a workout, you know how much i like to shake and
bump a machine for high scores, free balls or replays.

I heard you got room for a nice 1950's original woodrail bingo pinball
machine now. You know you need one to round off your fantastic
collection of games.
