Playfield Planking on BSD

I recently got a Bram Stoker's Dracula that has very slight planking
(vertical paint cracking) on the lower playfield (around the Dracula
inserts) and various other spots. The game has a Sun Process
playfield, which I understand generally holds up better than the Lenc
Smith versions.

Is there any way to fix this or at least prevent further planking or
damage?

Have the PF re-cleared. Most planking disappears once the cracks are
filled in.

If I were you, I would think long and hard about the restoration aspect.

Next piece of advice would be if you want to go down the restoration
path, call someone who has a PF ready to be restored and continue to
enjoy your game till you are ready to do the swap. Usually, descent BSD
PF's go for descent money, so you will be able to recoup a little money.

If I choose to leave it alone for the time being, will it continue to
worsen? I'd imagine those areas would begin to wear over time due to
the uneveness in the surface.

Is it in the basement or a high humidity area?

Not in a basement. I live in a high humidity area, but the game is
being kept in my air conditioned home.

its going to get worse over time.. even in a humid or unhumid area...
just the difference is how fast will it get worse. Since it has those
planks the surface isnt even and as the ball rolls on the slight high
spots it'll wear more.. and worst case scenario...it can chip off
paint and expose bare wood.

i've done several BSD fields with this issue. Some are really bad.
They must have had some bad surface layer wood or something. never
seen a WPC do this to this extent so often.

Mine is like this, only WPC game I've seen with this problem. The
screws don't hold well top or bottom of the playfield either, there
must have been a bad batch of wood and unfortunately BSD was being run
at the time :-(
