i am looking to buy a sheet of this glass however i was told this
about the coating

"As James states, this has the "protective coating" on it. It's
directly from the
factory and is coated with something in the non-mirror area that
needs to be removed. A chemical was used by Williams to remove this
coating, but no one's sure what the chemical is, from what I
understand. You could likely just use acetone or something"

does anyone know the correct way to remove this coating?
thanks

We found that using regular paint stripper easily does the job in
about 10 minutes. The ease which we found it could be removed is the
main reason we decided it would be plausible to sell the glass to the
public with the coating. Brush on the stipper, use a soft plastic
scraper or sponge to scrape it off and clean the glass with water and
glass cleaner. I personally like to handle and store the glass with
the coating as it helps protect the glass. From what I understand,
Williams used a "soy" based stripper as they had to deal with the EPA.

James,

Is this coating on the same side as the mirror coating and does it
overlap the mirror (ie: do you have to be really careful not to scrape
the mirror coating)? There is a transition area where the mirroring
feathers into normal glass, is this area an issue?

Is the glass you're selling original NOS glass (ie: with the Pin2K
logo) or IPB repro? I had assumed repro, but now you mention this
coating so I figured I'd ask.

Thanks.
