We will be making two trips this year to Michigan Adventure, and just
wondering if there is an arcade or game room there with any pins or
decent vids? We have not been there in years, so appreciate any
advice or information you may have. Just want to be prepared with
lots of quarters/dollars in case of rain or taking a break.

Thanks so much!

We were there 2 years ago. No pinball I can remember. The arcade is
the earn a tickets get prize type. Lots of skee ball though.
Bring your bathing suits the water park is good for cooing off and
actually quite fun.
The ripcord ride looks like a rush.

Went either last year or two years ago. Was ecstatic to find a JP on
location there... until I played it. I'm usually very open to
playing route games with a problem here and there, but JP didn't have
the upper flipper working at all, the bottom left flipper was so weak
you couldn't get it up to the height of the mode holes, the other
worked by the mode hole switch had broken so you couldn't start any
modes, the Smart Missile had been disconnected and the game was
basically pointless to play. It made the goal of the game to get the
ball to the right flipper and shoot the orbit through the pops, as you
can't backhand the upper ramp or raptor shot, and there really isn't
much more to shoot for.

I told the attendant at the arcade of the problems, and he said that
"it's working fine, pinball is just very different than other games."
I told him that of the 20 or so games that I owned, including JP, none
of them worked like that and that I was pretty darn sure it wasn't
supposed to suck. He then said that he thought it was supposed to be
like that, so he would ask the company that supplied it to look at it
next time.

Too bad. I want to put my initials up on a route JP sometime still...

Dave,

The waterpark is cool. Their wooden coaster is world-class. I wasn't
too impressed by the park overall, fun for kids though.

Thanks everyone for the information and the guidance. We are planning
on hitting the park in about three weeks, so if there is anything
there to perk some interest, I will let you all know.

Take care,

So is there a game room with pinball? DO you need a park pass to play?
The game room I saw was in the park, and just ticket earning style.

I guess it depends on when you go. When I was there, Shivering
Timbers was about the jack-hammer-ing-ist wooden coaster I had ever
been on. I didn't pay attention to the supposed great airtime / out
and back ride experience because I just was hoping for the ending
brakes. I hope they retracked it.

The one thing that I would specifically suggest not to miss there is
the Mad Mouse coaster near the front of the park. I'm generally a fan
of mice coasters, and that one is one of my all time favorites if not
my favorite mouse coaster that is out there. The rest of the park I
thought was very fun, but didn't feature anything that was
overwhelmingly cool. The water park is great fun, however.

Enjoy!

I would also recommend skipping the shivering timbers, it jarred us so
bad my wife got sick, not the typical sick either.
If you ever had a closed head injury (concussion) avoid this ride it
shakes your head really bad.

They have one pinball a Jurrasic Park.
You also need a park pass to get to the arcade it is in the middle of
the park.

Follow up on this,

We went there today, and had a blast. The new Thunderhawk ride
is the coolest. Was not crowded so we were able to ride most of the
coasters, and turn right around and ride again.

As far as pinball, you do need the park ticket or pass to get to
the arcade which is right in the middle of the park. One lone pin, a
JP, and redemption games mostly, and a few vids thrown in. The JP had
a weak flipper, broken rubbers and some lights out, but at least it
was out of the sun, and playing pinball for a while.

One another note, one of the vids was acting up, so the attendant
went over and side kicked the thing as hard as he could, then played
with all of the controls, then hung an out of order sign on it. Man,
I could not believe how hard he kicked that cabinet.

If you want pinball at an amusement park, try Indiana Beach which probably
has 8 or 9 DMD games. Or Cedar Point which probably has 25 games there,
mostly vintage EM's and early SS including 2 Hercules.

Thanks Mike,

I will save that advice and give it a try at Indiana Beach. We
have been to Cedar Point, but not Indiana Beach.
Sounds great! Thanks again,
