I just purchased a very nice Bally Space Invaders Pinball machine at
garage sale and everything works great on it except the score display
do not light up at all. I can see a very faint "Ball in Play" but non
of the other displays light up. I don't know anything about this so
was wondering if anyone has any ideas on where to start i
troubleshooting this. I have looked for fuses but can't find any. Thank

Hopefully you have a manual. That will help a lot. I would measure power to
the display, if that is wrong or right will help on where to go next. LTG

Congrats on your pin.

Do you have a DMM? First you would want to check for power. The solenoid driver / voltage regulator board (top right board as you look in the back box) is where you want to start at. Check test point TP2 for 190 vdc and TP4 for 230 vdc. DMM set to VDC over 300v, red lead on the TP. Black lead on the GND test point. Check those voltages and let us know what you have.

Can you solder? The male connector pins on each display always have cracked solder joints for whatever reason. Go through and remelt each pin and add a touch of solder. Best if desolder each pin and add all new solder.

No you don't the FIRST place to start at is the fuse on the rectifier board in the cabinet...

First you READ...this
http://techniek.flipperwinkel.nl/ballyss/rep/index1.htm
Especially the section "before powering the game on for the first time"
You will get to a later section that specifically tackles displa
issues, but on a newly aquired older game it is very important to asses
the overall health of the game, verify that all of the power train i
working properly first.

Since you have some kind of power on the one display, it could b
incorrect (failing power board or display power rectifying section o
the solenoid driver board) or since you have no real clue on what th
health of the boards are, possibly corrosion damage, and very likel
lots of connectors that need attention. Take your time and learn wha
is going on with everything in the machine first. Then come back her
and post some more specifics. Good luck with your game

OR, you could say where you are at, and ask for some 1 on 1
help from someone here.
