Hi,

I've recently turned on the match feature on my DE Tommy because it sounds cool and I also wanted to check out how the animation now looks with a color DMD. I was surprised to notice that there is no knocker activation at the end of the animation if a match is made. Should there be? The knocker coil does fire in test mode. I'm not sure I recall ever hearing it but would expect to hear it if a match is made and when high scores are made?
Is anyone able to confirm under what condition the knocker is supposed to operate.

Did you get an answer to this someplace else?

I have a Tommy. I can take the glass off and 'make shots' to see where
the knocker fires. Will have to run it several times to see if the
knocker fires with a match. Off hand, I do not recall.

If it fires in test, I am assuming the software does not fire it with a
match, but could try to confirm.

Which EPROM level are you using?

Its EPROM 4.0

I don't think I've ever heard the knocker used in the game.

I played a couple of games last night and got a free ball and the
knocker did not activate. I have not had a match yet.

It could be incomplete software - like with the shaker.

I am using A5.00 which is unofficial. It enables skipping the insipid
video game. It also has a sort of minimum play. Instead of time, it
sets minimum number of activated switches.

Thanks for checking that out, I'm still curious about if there is any game event that would trigger the knocker. Any bugs or glitches with running A5.00? I would love to bypass the video mode, that's the time I usually pick up my drink or fiddle with the TV.

Mine is running software v4.0 and it definitely knocked when I beat the Replay score and also at the end of game match. Took 3 rounds of odds-improving 4-player games to finally hit the match percentage, but I finally heard it happen...

Is the 5.00 software up somewhere for download?

Is it me, or are the DE flippers the loudest there are? All 3 of my mechanisms are in great repair, but man are they LOUD! I'm talking about the clack at the EOS. Any idea why they are so loud and what I could do to mitigate?

I have found that with V5.00, the match does not activate the knocker.
As far as I can tell, the knocker is never activated at any point
during gameplay nor after.

Getting rid of the video option is great. And, with LEDs and unplugging
the GI relay, I no longer vomit when the mirror drops.

Being a mediocre player, the minimum game 'time' (it is number of hits,
not seconds) is great. I just wish it went above 09.

I do not notice any difference in loudness with this DE nor any other
DE/Sega/Stern vs. any other pin I own.
