Hi there,
is there a connection between the logo used by Williams and the one
used by the Motorola comapny? I noticed they are exactly the same just
upside-down. Maybe everyone knows a story behind this connection so
forgive me if it's been told a hundred times.
Check it out for yourself....

They're not quite exactly 100% the same. The points in the W cross, while
the points in the M do not.

(I've spent wayyyy too much time looking at both, since I'm in Chicago!)

Motorolas middle points are shorter than Williams. Williams points are
all even. But at a quick glance they look the same.

One of my first pinball projects a High Speed I mounted all the caps up side
down. I was a Motorola employee at the time and didn't even notice I made
M's instead of W's . . . :-) Its close . . . very close ! :-)

Moto tried to take Williams to court over it because it was so close. I
didn't follow it closely enough at the time to tell what was the result.

You know, I've actually had a few people call/e-mail us over the years
saying that they needed a new "Motorola" flipper coil... Really just the "W"
logo but viewed upside down. Funny.

It worked fine and was cheap. Not sure why you might want to go with
higher (and sometimes unproven) tech in a game like pinball. These
games are still being fixed with parts that are mostly still in
production. Can't say that about many consumer products....
