Hey, asshole!

When I am reading my newsgroups, like alt.obituaries (for example) I do NOT wish
to read your off-topic pinball rants. Posting your SPAM across Usenet is
counterproductive - especially when someone reports you to your ISP. Did you
ever read your ISP's terms of service? They usually FORBID Usenet abuse.

Have fun explaining it all to your ISP.

I'm sure his ISP is going to get *right on* him breaking google's AUP.
(yeah, right.)

If you're going to complain and throw a hissy-fit, at least throw it in the
right direction.

It isn't off topic HERE - he also posted his rant to the OBITUARY newsgroup. As
the poster said.

(And who knows where else.) That is abuse.

Well, remember I said it first (or second or third). Wherever else
this got posted, this is where it belongs. May be true, may not be
true, but it is another red flag to be considered.

If the poster would post a link to a scan of the judgement, that would
go a long way on the credibility scale.

Uh, it doesn't appear that he did. That message doesn't show up on
alt.obituaries either on google or my local newsserver.

It DOES show up on alt.collecting.juke-boxes (hmmm, borderline but you
could at least make a case in theory due to the amount of crossover, but
it's tenuous), alt.marketing.online.ebay (again borderline), RGVA/C (I'd
say on-topic), and RGP (on-topic).

So complain to google; that's the only AUP he broke. His ISP isn't going
to give a flying flip one way or another. Further, if it's only his
first time cross-posting google isn't going to do a darn thing about it,
much less an ISP who would lose a paying customer.

Complain to an ISP if someone is doing something *habitually*. This
looks more like a one-off to me.

(...I reserve the right to be wrong, of course. :) )

If you could have been at my home this morning and answered the phone,
you would have been as happy as we are. Chattanooga Pinball's Dale
Levine was calling, wanting us to come and pick up a check. I did not
enjoy having to use this forum, but it feels great to finally,
hopefully be getting our money. Wonder if the other seven lawsuits
against him might get as smart. I have always heard hit em where it
hurts. Guess this didn't feel too good! Sorry for offending anyone,
but we just want what we are owed. Have a great day! Keep in mind that

Nonsense! This guy knows how to handle these things! Why, the outrage and
pressure from the Obituary newsgroup alone was enough to get the guy to whip out
the checkbook! We should be in awe of the brilliance we have witnessed today!!

creepy though. In the immortal words of Forrest Gump, "that's all I

I'm pleased to know that there is such a thing as an obituary
newsgroup. It somehow makes me feel closer to "normal" considering
that I spend about an hour each day reading a pinball newsgroup. ;-)

I appreciate the heads up on bottom feeders in the hobby. I think
this can be valuable information and anyone that gets ripped off
should post about it. Maybe it will save the next person from the
same outcome. Crooks don't change their ways, they just change their

This idiot is clearly in violation of his ISP's terms. Maybe he should learn
the rules that he agreed to abide by.

Problem is, he'll do the same thing and Spam Usenet next time he has a gripe -
convinced that his post on the eBay newsgroup did the trick.

Doesn't that seem a little predatory and disrespectful to surviving family? And also a little morbid/creepy?

How does one initiate that transaction? "I search term for stuff like 'pinball' in a place that you have no clue about with other people posting your dead husband's obituary on the Internet. I see he liked pinball, can I come over and have a gander and lowball you some figures since you might not have a clue what anything is worth?"
